On January 20, 2024, Compatriots Jack Currier (Fort Boise Chapter President) and Ronald Kern (Idaho Society President), and their wives, attended the US Navy Sea Cadets Corp Awards Banquet (Black Sheep Division). It was held on base at Gowen Field in Boise, Idaho. Representatives from DAR also attended, presenting a medal to another cadet, so both organizations were well represented.
Julian Yauman, Petty Officer Second Class, was presented with the SAR Good Citizenship Medal.
The SAR Good Citizenship Medal is awarded to a Sea Cadet or League Cadet in the rate of Petty Officer Second Class or above, who meets the following requirements:
Maintains good standing scholastically at the time of selection and presentation
Demonstrates a high degree of merit with respect to leadership qualities, military bearing, and excellence in the performance of duties; and
Has the potential for greater leadership responsibilities.
To our knowledge, this was the first time this medal was issued in the State of Idaho, and we were proud to have the opportunity to participate and Cadet Yauman certainly deserved it.
Below are a few photos from the evening.
If your Chapter would like to award this medal, you can learn more here.
